Two single track tunnels for the new high-speed railway track Köln-Rhein/Main (Deutsche Bahn AG) will run under the Autobahn 3 near Wallau.
Both tunnel portals will be open cut constructions, the tunnel between them of the closed coverage type. The tunnel tube on the Köln-Wiesbaden track has a length of about 800 m, the Wiesbaden-Köln tunnel of about 992 m.
